We are proud to officially sign the agreement with the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) under their CSR Grant Program 2025.
Through this grant, Maattey Sports will implement a powerful community-focused project in Laamu Fonadhoo, promoting sports for social change and wellbeing.
This initiative aims to enhance youth development, build resilience, and create inclusive spaces through structured grassroots sports and community engagement activities – especially in partnership with Laamu Youth Development and local stakeholders.

Maattey Sports CSR Grant Program 2025 – Inception Workshop
With the generous support of the Pension Office under the CSR Grant Program Cycle 2025, and guided by the theme “Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities”, Maattey Sports officially kick-started the Inception Workshop in Laamu Fonadhoo.
The first session was held with the Laamu Fonadhoo Council. We were honored to have the President of the Council join the session together with our dedicated Project Team, laying the groundwork for impactful community development through sports and youth empowerment.
Goalposts and Lawnmower Successfully Launched Under Pension Office Project Cycle 2025
Maattey Sports is pleased to announce the successful completion of the procurement and delivery of all goalposts and a lawnmower under Activity 1 of the Pension Office Project Cycle 2025, “Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities”.
The newly acquired equipment was officially launched during a small community event attended by our football academy players, coaches, and parents. The launch ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of Bison Group, Mr. Abdul Majeed, marking an important milestone in enhancing training facilities and maintaining quality playing conditions for young athletes in Laamu, Fonadhoo.
We were also extremely honoured to have former Maldives national team and Victory Sports Club striker, Mr. Ibrahim Faiq, join the event and play alongside our academy children. His presence and interaction with the young players added great inspiration and excitement to the occasion, creating a truly memorable experience for all involved.
Bison Maldives, the main sponsor of Maattey Sports Football Academy, continues to be a key partner in supporting grassroots football and youth development in the community. Their continued contribution plays a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and well-equipped environment for children to learn, train, and grow through sport.

Nutrition and Exercise Workshop – CSR Grant Program Pension Office Cycle 2025
The Nutrition & Exercise Workshop held in Laamu Fonadhoo on 23 December 2025 was completed, bringing together 25 parents—predominantly mothers—from the island for an engaging and informative session on healthy living.
Led by experienced dietitian Aminath Iasha, the workshop focused on practical approaches to nutrition and physical activity, empowering participants with knowledge to improve family and community well-being.
The program was organized by Maattey Sports in collaboration with Laamu Youth Development, with support from the Laamu Fonadhoo Council.
The President of the Council attended as Chief Guest and awarded certificates to participants, marking the successful conclusion of the workshop under the Pension Office Grant Cycle 2025 initiative on Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities.
Coaching Enhancement Camp
“Completion of the Coaching Enhancement Camp”
On 22nd May 2026, we successfully concluded the Coaching Enhancement Camp held in Laamu Fonadhoo under the Pension Office Project Cycle 2025.
Despite challenging weather conditions throughout the program, the commitment, resilience, and dedication shown by both participants and facilitators made this camp a meaningful and rewarding experience.
The camp focused on leadership, team building, and football coaching education aimed at strengthening grassroots football development within the community.
We are proud to share that a total of 7 coaches, including 1 female coach, successfully completed the program and received their certificates of completion.
These newly trained coaches now take an important step forward in contributing towards the development of young football players and creating more inclusive sporting opportunities within their communities.

Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities Project Successfully Concludes in Laamu Fonadhoo
Maattey Sports successfully completed the “Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities” project in Laamu Fonadhoo, supported by the Maldives Pension Office under its Grant Cycle 2025/2026. The project brought together sports development, health and nutrition awareness, coaching capacity building and grassroots youth football, creating meaningful opportunities for children, coaches, parents and communities to engage through sport.
The project began with an inception and stakeholder consultation phase, during which the Project Consultant and Project M&E Associate visited Laamu Fonadhoo and met with the President and members of the Laamu Fonadhoo Council, representatives of the Regional Police Department, and school parents. The information and feedback received through these consultations enabled Maattey Sports to further refine the initial project concept and strengthen the planned activities to ensure that they were relevant to local needs and could be implemented effectively.
As part of the project, Maattey Sports supported the improvement of grassroots football infrastructure, conducted a Health, Nutrition and Exercise Workshop, and delivered a Coaching Enhancement Camp aimed at strengthening the capacity of coaches working with children and young players.
The project concluded with the successful delivery of the Grassroots and Youth Football Festival, which brought together young footballers from Fonadhoo, Gan and Maamendhoo. The festival featured six Under-9 teams and six Under-13 teams, with approximately 180 players and officials participating. The event provided an opportunity for children from different communities to compete, interact and build friendships through football, while parents, coaches, supporters and community members also came together to support the young participants.
The festival was successfully completed despite a number of challenges. The original programme was affected by concurrent school activities and heavy rainfall, requiring changes to the schedule. The afternoon sessions planned for 20 August were subsequently moved to the morning of 21 August due to school commitments, while adverse weather conditions further tested the event arrangements. Despite these difficulties, participating teams arrived as planned, including the team from Maamendhoo, which travelled by boat to take part in the festival.
The successful completion of the festival demonstrated the commitment of the participating communities and the determination of Maattey Sports and its partners to ensure that the project objectives were achieved. It also reinforced the value of creating opportunities for children from different islands to participate in organised sporting activities and experience a safe, inclusive and positive sporting environment.
The project also provided important lessons for future community sports development initiatives. The implementation experience highlighted the need for stronger local coordination, greater community volunteer mobilisation, early engagement with schools and better provision for preparatory work and logistical support. The project further identified the need to place greater emphasis on girls and women in football. While women’s participation in sports such as netball, handball and volleyball is more common in Laamu, participation by girls in football and the availability of female football coaches remain limited. Developing more opportunities for girls and supporting the development of female coaches will therefore be an important priority for future initiatives.
Maattey Sports extends its sincere appreciation to the Maldives Pension Office for its financial support and confidence in the project. Appreciation is also extended to the Laamu Fonadhoo Council, Regional Police Department, school, parents, coaches, volunteers, participating teams and all community members who contributed to the successful implementation of the project.
The Building Resilient and Inclusive Communities project has now been formally concluded, with the Final Project Report submitted to the Maldives Office. The report documents the activities undertaken, results achieved, financial performance, challenges encountered and lessons learned throughout the project implementation period.
Maattey Sports remains committed to building on the experience gained through this initiative and continuing to use sport as a powerful platform for youth development, health, inclusion, community connection and resilience across Laamu Atoll.
